3D Realms, makers of Duke Nukem and 2013’s Rise of the Triad reboot, is giving us a good look at their next game – Bombshell.
Bombshell puts you in the shoes of bomb disposal tech turned merc for hire, Shelly ‘Bombshell’ Harrison. And, she has a badass robotic arm. Check out some Bombshell gameplay below.
You will play “across 4 planets in an Unreal Engine-powered galactic adventure to rescue the president from an apocalyptic alien threat.” Why not?
Here’s a few features 3D Realms is teasing.
Robot-Armed and Dangerous
Shell, shock and shatter your way through vicious, bloodthirsty predators, an augmented alien species, and the remnants of an ancient race re-animated, with more than 10 weaponized arm modifications.
Fierce finishing moves and interactive environments make Bombshell as dynamic as she is deadly.
Brilliantly brutal isometric shooting layered with classic role-playing mechanics, including experience points, upgrades, side quests, and non-linear levels. All with a twist of first-person shooter mechanics.
3D Realms says they want to support the modding community. “We are big supporters of modding tools and we strive to release them for every game we make,” reads a portion of the FAQ. That’s a smart move. A vibrant modding community can give a game incredible legs. Just look at Skyrim. I’m not saying Bombshell will be that popular, but supporting the modding community is a big plus.
So, when can you expect kick some alien ass with Bombshell? 3D Realms isn’t giving specifics, but plans to release Bombshell on PC and consoles later this year.
