Hello, gorgeous. The U.S.-spec’d 2017 Audi R8 V10 Plus is here, and it’s living up to the hype. The difference in the European counterpart is negligible. Stateside, we get LED headlights over the laser system, and a few side markers are gone.
Past that? It has a need for speed. 610 hp in the all-new V10 Plus. Getting it to hit the number, Audi set out to rework the air intake and exhaust system. It still has the same seven-speed-S-tronic system its sibling, the stock R8, has.
During the recent tests at Daytona, Audi strapped a GoPro VR video rig to the car to give us one hell of a view. You’ll need Chrome to take advantage of the 360-degree experience.

The Audi R8 V10 Plus turns in some rather impressive performance numbers, 0-60 in a touch over three seconds. Top speed? 205 mph of ‘you better buy a radar detector’ greatness.
The video you see above is also a nice look at what should be the GoPro Omni. The six-camera setup presented a challenge for Audi in the creation of the video. An R8 isn’t exactly known for roominess, creating issues in post production to nail down the proper stitching of the frames.
It does bode well for the system and VR video in general. If the Omni can handle an Audi R8 in the hands of a pro whipping around Daytona, action sports look like a lock.
As for the R8? The 2017 V10 Plus hits $191,900. The automaker may say it’s aiming at the 911s of the world, but this seems like a shot at the NSX.
The price comparison with the 540HP base R8? It starts at $164,150. If you’re already spending that kind of cash on a supercar, why not spring for the faster model. At least earn the speeding ticket.
