My favorite shooter on consoles (for a few more weeks at least) is getting a new map. It’s called Operation Outbreak, and it’s a collaborative effort between the Battlefield 4 community and the developers.
Yesterday, DICE unveiled Operation Outbreak in a new trailer. And it’s their most realistic yet.
DICE is known for their action packed movie-esque trailers for the Battlefield series. They are awesome. But the teamwork shown in those trailers is the exception, not the norm. The trailer above is the worst Battlefield 4 trailer, but it reflects what gameplay will look like for many players.
DICE does label the trailer as a “Playtest Trailer,” so maybe we’ll see a cinematic trailer as we get closer to the map’s Fall release.
The recent Night Operations trailer was fantastic.
And, my favorite Battlefield 4 multiplayer trailer. That moment when the Battlefield theme kicks in? So good.
As you can see in the trailer, Operation Outbreak is set in the jungle. DICE offers a few more details about the map in their announcement. “Enter the dense jungle to battle for supremacy in a valley with a medical research facility, an ancient temple, and a lush waterfall. The valley is infantry-focused with limited access, making the use of agile vehicles (such as RHIB’s on the river, quad bikes for fast transportation, and light attack vehicles) critical for success.”
You gotta love the support coming from DICE. It’s great to see developers support their communities. It also helps when nearly 100,000 players are still playing Battlefield 4.
Now, we just need this same support to transition over to Star Wars: Battlefront in November.
What do you think of the new map? Also, what’s your favorite Battlefield 4 trailer (or any Battlefield trailer)?
