I don’t think she needs the extra payday, but Beyoncé is entering the world of athletic wear. The singer is partnering up with Topshop to create a line that should hit shelves in Fall 2015. Unlike most celeb fashion lines, Beyoncé’s is a true 50/50 partnership.
Topshop owner, Sir Phillip Green, was quick to point out this was not a simple collaboration, but a full partnership. “This is about building a brand and building a business — a separate, proper business, with separate overhead and a separate office.”
Beyoncé is excited to start on the new venture, releasing her own statement on the line. “I have always loved TopShop for their fashion credentials and forward thinking,” the singer said in a statement. “Working with their development team to create and produce a technical and fashion-led collection is exciting, and I’m looking forward to participating in all aspects of this partnership.”
Her collection will feature footwear, clothing and accessories. All three will be in the fitness and sports categories. Get ready for your gym to be packed with people wearing the latest from Beyoncé next fall.
Jay-Z better watch his back when it comes to venturing out of the entertainment vertical. His wife is proving that she can build a brand outside of the music world. As for Topshop, having her as a brand is sure to keep the registers ringing just as the holiday shopping season hits in 2015.
