I’ve been all digital since the launch of the Xbox One and PS4. But it’s not without its drawbacks. The chief one being sales. Physical copies plummet in price at retailers while the digital storefronts often sit at $60 for new titles. That’s changing as Black Friday edges closer.
The folks at Xbox announced Black Friday sales are coming to the Xbox store starting tomorrow for Gold members. November 22 for everyone else. The list of games getting sales looks great. I added the list of games I saw below the trailer.
Gears of War 4
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
Red Dead Redemption
Madden NFL 17
The Witcher 2
Forza Horizon 3
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
South Park: The Stick of Truth
ARK: Survival Evolved
Skyrim: Special Edition
It’s a great list that will only be bigger with over 250 games. But what kind of deals are we going to get? From the video description:
Xbox Live Gold members will get early access to deals of up to 40-57% off and save up to 10% more for being Gold
The key word is “up to.” 40% isn’t the minimum. It’s part of the max. That doesn’t mean we won’t be seeing great deals. I wouldn’t be surprised to see games like Overwatch go for 40-50% off.
If you want an idea of what to expect, check out last year’s Black Friday sales. Games like Far Cry 4 and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt were 50% off. The “worst” deal was Forza Motorsport 6 at just 17% off. I’ll be looking for 20-30% off to be the most common starting tomorrow. Especially for recent releases.
It isn’t just games, either. Movies, TV and Music will also jump into the Black Friday sales action.
And if you don’t see your favorite game tomorrow, wait until November 25th. Microsoft promises more deals on actual Black Friday.
My wishlist? I’ll be keeping an eye on Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Titanfall 2 and Skyrim: Special Edition. And the inevitable couple of dozen Xbox 360 games that get included in the sale. Which games do you have your eye on?
