Treyarch is carrying the Call of Duty mantle this year, and I’m pumped. After two years of Call of Duty not being my main console shooter, I’m ready to jump back on board. Today, Treyarch is giving us a small taste of Black Ops III story.
It wouldn’t be a Call of Duty game unless the world has gone to hell. A new Cold War is brewing, and a new breed of Black Ops soldiers are fighting in it. “The lines between humanity and military technology have been blurred.”
“I wanted to be a killing machine, and they made me one,” says what looks like the main character. And how do you make a killing machine in the future? Add a little something extra; a direct neural interface. “Your mind truly is your greatest weapon,” says a voice.
We’re then treated to a montage of classic Call of Duty action.
What has me most intrigued are the parts of the trailer showing off what looks like a German tank and soldier from World War II. Now all I’m thinking about is how awesome it would be to have a World at War-style playlist in Black Ops 3 multiplayer.
Return of the console shooter kings
Halo 5: Guardians and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 just a few weeks apart? It’s going to be great. Lucky for most of us, we’ve had a chance to play both games already. And I’m on board with both. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen Halo and Call of Duty at the top of their games, but I have a good feeling about this year.
Treyarch has been making great Call of Duty games since World at War. I don’t see them stumbling on this one. I had a blast with the multiplayer beta, and the story looks intriguing. I wonder what’s up with the WWII flashback scenes?
