Two Million Bloodborne Fans are Waking Up to News of an Expansion
Bloodborne expansion The Old Hunters

Just when you thought you had your holiday gaming purchases lined up, Sony comes in and reveals a Bloodborne expansion is coming very soon. It’s called The Old Hunters and will be out on November 24.

Sony made the announcement during the Sony Japan-Asia conference.

What can you expect with The Old Hunters? New outfits, weapons and enemies. Here’s how the PS Blog describes it.

Set in a nightmare world where hunters from the past are trapped forever, explore brand new stages full of dangers, rewards, and deadly beasts to overcome. You’ll find multiple new outfits and weapons to add to your arsenal as well as additional magic to wield and add more variety to your combat strategy.

With new story details, learn the tale of hunters who once made Yharnam their hunting grounds, meet new NPCs, and discover another side of the history and world of Bloodborne. Here’s a brief glimpse of just some of what lies in store for you when The Old Hunters launches on November 24th, including Simon’s Bowblade weapon, and new boss enemy Ludwig.

Sony also revealed Bloodborne has sold through more than two million units worldwide. ‘Sold through’ means that’s how many copies have been sold directly to consumers. Those are crazy numbers for a niche title.

Here’s the trailer for the expansion. Keep an eye out for the bow.

FromSoftware is on an impressive streak with their Souls franchise and Bloodborne. Games in recent years have been criticized for hand-holding and catering too much to a casual crowd. FromSoftware’s release of Demon’s Souls in 2009 showed there is still a large market for extremely challenging games. Six years later, and fans still can’t get enough of FromSoftware’s titles.

The Old Hunters will cost $20 when it releases on November 24. I’ll leave you with a couple of extra screenshots.
