Chris Hemsworth as a receptionist? Put the hammer down brother and answer the damn phone. Ghostbusters’ director Paul Feig announced the addition of some eye candy for the ladies to go along with the female-led cast.
If you’re not caught up on the reboot of the 1984 classic, Ghostbusters, it stars Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Kristen Wiig. Helmed by Paul Feig, there is an air of it wants to recapture the chemistry of Bridesmaids and bottle it into a hilarious reboot.
Now, if the reboot stays close to the original, Hemsworth will reprise the role made famous by Annie Potts. She played Janine Melnitz, rocked big rimmed glasses and was in love with Egon Spengler (played by the late Harold Ramis).
It means Thor is trading his cape to become the butt of the jokes, scream out ‘we’ve got one’ for paranormal calls and fall for one of the leading ladies. It should be hilarious.

Every woman on earth is thinking, ‘yeah, who you gonna call?’
For Ghostbusters, the cast is an amazing get. Chris Hemsworth is famous for his role in Thor and the two Avengers movies. In both Avengers, he’s one of my favorite characters delivering the quips. Now he’s a receptionist in Ghostbusters. It’s great.
He’s also padding the resume with comedies. He stars in Vacation, the fifth installment of National Lampoon’s series, hitting theaters in July.
Besides Vacation, he will be the lead in Ron Howard’s biographical thriller, In the Heart of the Sea. It hits theaters on December 11, and is either designed as award season bait or serious counter programming to Star Wars. I love historical pieces, especially one that inspired Moby Dick.
What do you think? Is adding Chris Hemsworth to the cast as the receptionist a solid move? I’m loving it, but sound off in the comments.
