Microsoft loves its advertising deals and timed exclusives, unless someone else is doing them. Watched the opening NFL game last night? You probably saw the Destiny live-action trailer. And, a white PS4 at the end of it. Sony and Activision teamed up for the marketing campaign and timed DLC for Destiny.

Microsoft’s response to not being allowed to run adverts for Destiny? A fun, fake advertisement for Destiny Fragrance. The Xbox UK Twitter account first posted the ad.

“Destiny is actually an epic new first-person shooter available on Xbox. Thing is, we didn’t have permission to run adverts for the game. So we didn’t. Thanks for smelling that something was up. Now get the game and become a legend,” it reads.

It’s a fun advert from Microsoft, but boy have they set themselves up for a return volley from Sony. I think it’s a great move by Microsoft. It definitely gets everyone talking, and that’s what you want at the end of the day.

I can’t wait to see if Sony responds. It’s great the big companies like to take jabs at each other. Keeps everyone on their toes and makes everything more fun.

Destiny hits stores on Tuesday. Oh, and here’s the live action trailer one more time. You can never see too many popped hoods.
