The Deus Ex franchise hasn’t seen a new entry since 2011’s Deus Ex: Human Revolution. That changes with the latest Game Informer cover reveal.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided takes place two years after the events in Human Revolution. You’ll be playing as Adam Jensen once again.
According to Game Informer, Jensen “joins forces with an Interpol-funded task force aiming to hunt down and capture augmented terrorists in a world that now hates and fears transhumans.”
Square Enix tried to have an elaborate unveiling through Twitch, Instagram and other avenues – but Russian website, Kanobu, leaked screenshots of the title. NeoGAF users were quick to spot the leaked screenshots. The leak ultimately led to Game Informer announcing their May cover story a bit quicker than Square Enix would have liked.
Game Informer also released a short video highlighting some of their upcoming coverage. And, they tease “some great examples on how the game will be as open-ended as ever.” Check out their full article to see it.
Here’s several screenshots of the new title. It’s looking damn good already.
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided looks great in the screenshots above. And, it has a lot to do with it coming to PS4, Xbox One and PC. Not previous gen consoles. Finally, we can start seeing what we paid $400/$500 for (as far as multiplatform games go).
A new Deus Ex game in the making isn’t surprising. Last year, Eidos Montréal teased what the next entry in the franchise could look like in the Dawn Engine.
Here’s what they had to say at the time. “The Dawn Engine will form the cornerstone for all Deus Ex Universe projects at Eidos-Montréal.”
The Dawn Engine is actually based on a heavily modified version of IO Interactive’s Glacier 2 engine. That engine powered Hitman: Absolution. Some Hitman fans might not have liked Absolution’s gameplay, but you can’t argue that it didn’t look good when it released in 2012.
I guess I need to jump back on Deus Ex: Human Evolution and finish my play through.
