Always count on an earnings report to give a glimpse of what’s coming from a video game company.
Ubisoft confirmed Far Cry 4 this morning as part of its earnings report. The next Far Cry title will hit store shelves on November 18. It is a cross-gen game with releases slated for PS4, Xbox One, PC, Xbox 360 and PS3. Sorry Wii U. Once again, you get left out.
Ubisoft has high expectations for Far Cry 4 as well. Thier goal, as stated in the earnings release, is for Far Cry 4 to be “among the top 10 best-selling games of the year.” Far Cry 3 was incredibly popular so the goal shouldn’t be too difficult to hit.
Ubisoft also released a general synopsis for Far Cry 4.
In Far Cry 4, players find themselves in Kyrat, a breathtaking, perilous and wild region of the Himalayas struggling under the regime of a despotic self-appointed king. Using a vast array of weapons, vehicles, and animals, players will write their own story across an exotic open-world landscape.
Looks like the prior leaks about Far Cry 4’s setting were spot on.
Ubisoft also detailed preorder bonuses for Far Cry 4 today. Preordering the game will net you Hurk’s Redemption, a three-part single player mission pack featuring the character Hurk from Far Cry 3. Hurk’s main weapon, a harpoon gun called The Impaler, is also included with preorders.
Ubisoft also gave us a sneak peek at what’s coming at their E3 conference. “The year’s performance will be led by five games–Assassin’s Creed Unity, Far Cry 4, Just Dance, The Crew, and Watch Dogs,” Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said in a statement. “Watch Dogs’ pre-orders are at record levels and it is perfectly positioned to become the industry’s most successful new IP in history.”
The Division will also be showcased at E3, but its exclusion from the statement above points to a 2015 release.
“The production is getting stronger every day and we can’t wait to show you what we’ve been up to at this year’s E3,” The Division dev team said in a post today.
Ubisoft’s E3 conference will be held on June 9 at 3 pm PDT.
