If you’re a fan of House of Cards, there’s sad news today. Elizabeth Norment, who played Frank Underwood’s secretary Nancy on the show, passed away today at the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. One of my favorite scenes with her in House of Cards centered around Frank’s birthday.
If you know the show, you know Frank hates his birthday and tells Nancy what to do with the cards. I think we all would love to toss the cards in the garbage. It’s such a great scene. Norment’s character matched perfectly with Kevin Spacey’s Frank.
Beau Willimon, the showrunner, released a statement on behalf of the House of Cards cast. “Everyone at House of Cards is deeply saddened by Elizabeth’s passing. She was a talented actress, a warm soul and a good friend to us all.”
In an obituary on the Washington Post, it showed her career spanned multiple hit TV series. The list includes Doogie Howser, M.D., Blue Bloods and Law & Order. I’m sure the show will plan a tribute as it enters its third season early next year.
