Garmin’s got a new navigation app out for iOS and Android called Viago. It costs $0.99 right now, but the price goes up to $1.99 after July 13.
Here’s everything you need to know about Viago
Get realistic displays of junctions and interchanges. Anyone who has ever driven through downtown Atlanta or any big city with an interstate system will love this feature.
Lane assist makes finding which lane you should be in a breeze. Both this and the junctions feature will be life savers when driving through major metropolitan areas.
Forgot what the speed limit is on a certain stretch of road? Speed info will give you your current speed and what the current speed limit is.
Viago also comes with optional upgrades including speaking street names and showing 3-D representations of buildings so you can get a better idea on where you are and where you’re going.
Garmin Real Directions takes it a step further and gives you spoken directions using landmarks. The video below shows an example, “turn right after the clock tower.” The traffic live feature promises to reroute you around traffic tie-ups automatically.
As I wrote above, Viago costs $0.99 through July 13. But, in-app purchases will quickly make Viago expensive. These purchases range from $4.99 to $19.99 each. Garmin says that this approach will let customers pick and choose exactly which features they want.
Viago’s base app looks impressive, but be aware that the optional features will cost you.
Note: Viago requires iOS 7 or later.
