Now this is how you do a teaser trailer. Or announcement trailer. Whatever you want to call it, the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer is perfection.
Too many trailers these days feel like you’re watching most of the movie. Yes, I’m looking at every potential summer blockbuster. Even Star Wars was starting to fall into that trap with the continual rollout of TV spots and international trailers. Luckily we only have a few days until it hits theaters. I must avoid any and all spoilers.
Discovering Fantastic Beasts
What do we know about the film? J.K. Rowling is about to make even more money. It’s her world and we just live in it. The film is set for release November 2016.
Most fans will immediately notice the American accents. We are returning to the world of Harry Potter and wizardry. Where’s the British feel? And we are in 1920s New York?
In a way, it does make sense to mark the clear delineation of the movies. Moving across the pond makes sense to open up the universe. Some may not like it, but it’s a smart move. Plus, will get a look at the American Ministry of Magic? Come on Warner Bros. You know we all want it.
Even if the movie is terrible, which the odds of that being the case are near zero, the film will be gorgeous. Blending 1920s Jazz Age New York with the Wizarding World of Potter and company? That’s genius.
Except for a glimpse of Eddie Redmayne’s Newt Scamander carrying a suitcase of magical creatures, we don’t have a lot to go on from the teaser trailer. Let’s keep it that way Warner Bros. No need to spoil us.
Sound off with what you think of Fantastic Beasts. Will you find yourself lining up to see the expansion of the Potter universe?
