That was unexpected. It was rumored, but the new X-Men: Apocalypse trailer is full of new footage. Whether or not that’s a good thing is up for debate. Wouldn’t you rather stroll into the theater and not think you’ve seen the entire movie?
In the new spot, we see Quicksilver acknowledge Magneto is his father in a cheesy exchange with Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique/Raven. Nightcrawler gets a few words in finally, but we still don’t know if he realizes Mystique is his mother.
Cyclops looks like he has more personality than all the previous X-Men movies combined. We get to see who is tossing the car at Psylocke – the battle between her and Beast should be fun to watch.
While still not 100 percent, the trailer heavily implies Raven is in charge of the team after Apocalypse takes Xavier. She’ll be teaching them how to fight. Hey, she made it through the Hunger Games and is handy with a bow.
The best part of the trailer? The very end. Wolverine. Hell yes. You have to have Logan in the movie. Fox is pulling out all the stops for the film.
All the trailers have built us up for a grand epic. Now, the studio has to deliver on the hype when it lands in theaters on May 27.
