Xbox One and Xbox 360 owners are getting a Fast & Furious themed Forza 2 expansion today. And, you don’t have to pay a cent. Starting today and lasting until April 10, the standalone expansion is free.
Christopher ‘Ludacris’ Bridges lends his voice as Fast & Furious’ Tej Parker. He wants you to help him acquire ten cars for the Fast & Furious crew. These are the same cars you’ll see when the movie hits theaters on April 3.
A blog post announcing the launch reads:
Your goal is to acquire each of these cars by taking part in a series of automotive challenges inspired by the Fast & Furious films. From the 900-hp 1970 Dodge Charger to an armored 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and more, each of the cars in the Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious standalone expansion is both stunningly accurate and amazingly fun to drive.
The launch trailer below gives you a small taste of what Forza 2 Presents Fast & Furious will offer.
A Win-Win for Everyone
Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious is a win-win for everyone. Forza fans get some new content to play. Those of you who haven’t tried Forza 2 get to play one of last year’s best Xbox One titles. Microsoft will see a bump in Forza 2 sales. And, Fast & Furious gets some unique advertising.
It’s a movie tie-in game, but one that builds on an already successful game. This is how it should be done from now on.
The way could work on a lot of different games/movies. Bring Edge of Tomorrow to Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with a different spin on ‘Zombies.’ Or John Wick to Hitman. Better yet, just make a John Wick game.
What do you think? Would you rather see movies team up with talented developers for small standalone expansions? What movies and developers would you like to see team up?
