This is a switch. AMC has released a Better Call Saul trailer with footage from the show. Just in time for Christmas. The Breaking Bad prequel follows Saul Goodman, who goes by Jimmy McGill when the show kicks off.
If you’re a fan, the trailer is perfect. Saul/Jimmy starts off with a rousing: “You! Will! Atone!” It’s a short trailer, but it should hold you over until the February 8 premiere. It shows Bob Odenkirk’s Jimmy/Saul with his brother Chick, played by Michael McKean. They both face off with Patrick Fabian’s character, Howard Hamlin.
Rounding out the cast is Jonathan Banks, Breaking Bad alum Mike Ehrmantraut, Michael Mando and Reha Seehorn.
Charlie Collier, president at AMC, released a statement with the trailer. “This February, during AMC’s first ever two-night series premiere event, we’re going to introduce Jimmy McGill to the world. Known to Breaking Bad fans as Saul Goodman, viewers will soon discover Saul wasn’t always Albuquerque’s top criminal (criminal) lawyer. Huge thanks to Vince Gilligan, Peter Gould, Bob Odenkirk, our partners at Sony, and the entire team. We’re thrilled to be cooking together again.”
If you need a quick primer, Better Call Saul takes place around six years prior to the events depicted on Breaking Bad. It follows Jimmy McGill before he was Saul, as he hustles to make money as a small-time lawyer.
AMC is displaying confidence in the show, renewing it for a second season before the first even airs. The 10 episode first season will debut on February 8 at 10pm EST. A second episode will air on February 9 at the same time. It then settles into its Monday timeslot for the remaining 8 episodes.
