343 Industries’ support of Halo 5: Guardians continues today with the release of Ghosts of Meridian. Jump back into Halo multiplayer with two new maps, new weapons and vehicles and more.
Today’s content drop brings one map for Warzone and one for Arena. Skirmish at Darkstar takes place on the glassed colony of Meridian. With this map, 343 is going for “an entirely new feel to the Warzone experience, with a variety of unique sightlines, flank routes.”
Here’s a piece of concept art.
And this is what the final map looks like.
Tyrant will satisfy the Arena fans and is perfectly designed for Capture the Flag and Assault says 343.
Ok, give me that new gravity hammer now! It’s called the Tartarus’ Gavel and unleashes kinetic explosions on each swing. I can’t be the only one that is thinking about a Lacrosse variant of Grifball after seeing it.
Warzone Firefight Beta coming April 14th
Cool trailer, but I forgot what I watched when I saw a Warzone Firefight beta was coming this month. 343 describes Warzone Firefight as “the biggest Halo cooperative experience ever in franchise history.” Eight players. Five rounds of dynamic objectives set against a timer. Sounds like the biggest to me. At least, bigger than previous versions of Firefight.
The five-day beta pits you and your friends on Escape from A.R.C. against waves of enemy units. And since it bears the Warzone name, all REQs will be available.
I want to see how 343 balances each wave of enemies against the ability to use REQs. Then again, that’s why this is a beta. Hey, 343. Just make sure my dozens of plasma pistols have a use for something.
Besides new maps and a Warzone Firefight beta, 343 is fixing, tweaking and adding a host of features today. Is your Forge map missing that special something? How about some weather effects? Yep. Rain, snow, papers, embers, dust and motes are joining the Forge toolset today.
We are going to be busy this month. Dark Souls 3, Destiny update, The Division update, DOOM open beta and a Firefight beta? You won’t lack something to play, that’s for sure. I’ll be firing up Halo 5: Guardians later tonight in between some Dark Zone action.
