UPDATE: Microsoft removed the video.
Halo 5: Guardians is one of this year’s most anticipated titles. It’s also arguably the most important game 343 Industries will ever release. We all know about the problems with Halo: Master Chief Collection. 343 Industries can erase those memories with Halo 5: Guardians.
A recently leaked clip shows Master Chief and Blue Team taking on Covenant forces. I should warn you; the video quality is garbage. But that’s about it.
You can’t really tell how good the game looks, but the gameplay looks fantastic. The verticality and alternate routes shine in the second half of the video. Around 8:30, you can see the player Spartan Charge through a wall. It’s this kind of player freedom that opens up every encounter and adds to the replayability.
We also get another good look at squad commands. You can see Tim Longo’s hand here. Before joining 343 Industries as creative director, he served as creative director for Star Wars: Republic Commando – another game that incorporated squad commands heavily.
The music sounds incredible. It’s great to see 343 going back to the original Halo themes. If you haven’t yet, check out these 15 minutes of Halo 5 Guardians music.
Can October 27th hurry up already? 343 Industries won me over with the Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer beta. And if they can maintain the kind of gameplay shown in the leaked footage throughout the whole game? 343 will have a Game of the Year contender with Halo 5: Guardians.
