Microsoft and 343 Industries said they would reveal a new Warzone map at Comic-Con and GameSpot has the goods.

A Microsoft official description describes how ‘Raid on Apex 7’ plays in part:

Beware of the Covenant though, for they will not let you take this island so easily. They will counterattack and fight to retake their territory. Continue the push for control of the island and take out the opposition’s core… before you awaken something much worse.

“Something much worse” instantly makes me think of the Flood. Unfortunately, that won’t be happening. 343’s Tim Longo said there are no Flood in the game in a recent sit down with Game Informer. Longo did say there are other “surprises in store.” (fast forward to 29:35 in the video below).

The “something much worse” might refer to a super ‘boss’ if the match stretches on too long. Who knows what 343 has in store, but I hope we see some gameplay footage soon.

Microsoft and 343 Industries teamed up with Mega Bloks for a non-traditional map reveal. It’s a 6’ x 6’ recreation made up of Mega Bloks.

Check out Gamespot’s article to see how it looks. Nothing will ever top a gameplay footage blow out, but the Mega Bloks map looks pretty damn sweet.

For a more traditional look at a part of ‘Raid on Apex 7’ check out the concept art below.

Halo 5 Guardians Raid on Apex 7

Gamespot also has a video showing the map take shape. That music, though. Give me the official soundtrack now!

Halo 5: Guardians at SDCC

I highlighted everything Halo-related that is going on this week at SDCC in a post yesterday. I’m most excited for the Hunt For the Truth panel. 343 won’t spoil Halo 5: Guardians’ story, but we should learn more about how Master Chief factors into Halo 5: Guardians and the overall storytelling in the game.

Lego Halo? Halo Garden Warfare? I’d Play Both

Warzone will also be playable at SDCC. If you’re in San Diego this weekend head on over to the Xbox Booth to get hands on. Will we get some footage of ‘Raid on Apex 7?’ I’m crossing my fingers.

After SDCC, Gamescom will be the next stop for 343 and Halo 5: Guardians.

Halo 5: Guardians is set for release on October 27 on Xbox One.
