343, you had me back on board with Grifball. But, Halo 5 Firefight? Hell yes! It’s called Warzone Firefight, and we get a sneak peek at the end of the Hammer Storm launch trailer.
Ok, that looks epic. I do have a question, though. What’s the player cap? I see five players running up the hill. Seems like a strange number. Usually, co-op centric modes are limited to four. Hey, I’m not complaining. I’m just wondering if it’s more than five.
Here’s a short snippet from the Xbox Wire post talking about Firefight.
“Among the vast array of new modes coming to Halo over the next several months is one that our fans have repeatedly asked us to deliver – Firefight. The new mode, called “Warzone Firefight”, will bring PvE to Halo 5: Guardians multiplayer and let players battle together against common foes (and truly show off their custom Spartans to boot!) That’s all we’ll say for now, but trust us, we can’t wait to tell you more about Warzone Firefight in the coming months.”
We also get a look at upcoming DLC for Halo 5: Guardians including Ghosts of Meridian, Memories of Reach, Hog Wild and Warzone Firefight. Hog Wild? I wonder what that’s about. Racing? Do it 343!
Warzone Firefight Release Date
We don’t have a firm date, but we can make some decent assumptions. The above image shows four DLC’s that have already released (Hammer Storm is live right now). And four more coming in the future. 343 has been steadily releasing these sizable updates once a month since release. Hammer Storm released today and Infinity’s Armory released about month ago.
Let’s assume that trend continues. That means Ghosts of Meridian at the end of March, Memories of Reach in April, Hog Wild in May and Warzone Firefight in June. What better time to drop Warzone Firefight than at E3. Show a badass trailer and then say, “play it now.”
That’s all assuming 343’s current update release schedule stays as is. The important thing is Firefight is coming, and it’s coming soonish.
“The sport of the future is here! The community-favorite game type makes its way to Halo 5: Guardians with the Hammer Storm release. Players spawn on opposite sides of an open court and must smash and slice their way through opponents to score the Grifball which spawns in the center. Grifball carriers turn the color orange to be spotted more easily and of course to resemble Red Vs Blue’s most beloved loud-mouth, Grif!”
An old favorite is also coming in today’s update. The M6D Pistol or we all know it – the Halo: CE Pistol.
The new map today is Torque, a research facility that “caters to Capture the Flag and Assault game modes.” Here are a couple of more images of it.
Besides new content, 343 also fixed many issues across the Sandbox, Theater and Forge. Check out the full patch notes at the bottom of this post.
It looks like my gaming tonight is going to be full of ‘sports’ games. A little Rocket League with a whole lot of Grifball. Let me know what you think of Grifball once you get a chance to play it.
