Starting Memorial Day, 140 2016 Shelby GT-Hs will be available at select airports across the country. Something tells me the regional airport in Gadsden isn’t on the list.
The collaboration is a deep one. The 140 cars are being specially made for Hertz and feature paint jobs in a unique black and gold – a nod towards Hertz branding. With the cars built for Hertz, it means you won’t be buying one off the showroom.
Hertz Shelby GT-H
What are you getting when you sign the rental agreement? A 2016 Ford Mustang GT that has seen a bit of love from the Shelby crew. A custom exhaust, performance handling package, Shelby’s body kit and a rear spoiler. Don’t expect any engine tuning.
It’s a rental. The GT has 435 horsepower. It’ll get you the speeding ticket without the mad scientists at Shelby putting the 5.2L monster that outputs 526 HP. Though, thinking it over…
Come on Hertz, supercharge it for us. I swear I won’t find the closest track. It’ll be the second closest track. Compromises must be made.
Shelby and Hertz History
The 2016 collab marks the third time Shelby, Ford and Hertz have teamed up. In 1966, the GT350-H made its debut. A decade ago, it was another GT-H and come Memorial Day; we have the 2016 Shelby Mustang GT-H.
Damn, that 1966 GT350. I want one.
Those searching for a rental on Memorial Day should take a look at the Hertz Adrenaline Collection. It’s not cheap, but damn if it doesn’t make business travel a little more enjoyable. Here’s the list of cities where you’ll be able to rent one:
