Supergiant Games revealed their latest game today called Pyre. Don’t recognize the studio name? You’ll recognize their games. Supergiant Games last two games have been hits – Bastion and Transistor. With Pyre, Supergiant Games is trading one protagonist for many.

Pyre is a party-based RPG in which you lead a band of exiles to freedom through an ancient competition spread across a vast, mystical purgatory.

Here’s the first trailer.

Hot damn! That trailer oozes Supergiant Games through and through. The vibrant art design and outstanding music we remember Bastion and Transistor for are back in Pyre. We also get some very short glimpses of gameplay. It’s hard to see exactly what’s going on, but it’s enough to get me pumped to see more.

If you’re headed to PAX East this weekend, Supergiant Games will be on hand to show off a bit more of the game. Unfortunately, most of us won’t playing Pyre anytime soon. Its release date is slated for sometime in 2017 for the PC and PS4.

Besides the reveal trailer, Supergiant Games also released a handful of screenshots. Here are a couple of stills from what looks like a gameplay perspective.

Darren Korb and Ashely Barrett are teaming up once again for the music and vocals. The short piece in the reveal trailer shows they still have it. What is your favorite piece of music from Bastion or Transistor? Mine has to be In Case of Trouble.

I’ll be on the lookout for more news at PAX East this weekend. Hopefully, Supergiant gives us a better look at the gameplay. It might still be a little early, but hey – one can hope right?
