We don’t typically see AAA retail leaks like this. Someone over at Target hit the wrong button and is having a very bad day. Details of Warner Bros. and Monolith’s Middle Earth: Shadow of War were up for a little bit this morning on Target’s website. The listing has been pulled down, but not before all the details were screenshotted and spread across the internet.

Here’s a quick synopsis of the new Middle Earth:

“Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses and dominate Mordor from within. Experience how the award winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth.”

And one more nugget of story:

“Experience an epic open-world brought to life by the award-winning Nemesis System. Forge a new Ring of Power, conquer Fortresses in massive battles and dominate Mordor with your personal Orc army in Middle-earth™: Shadow of War™.”

You had me at Nemesis system.

It wasn’t just story details that leaked either. Target went all out this morning. There’s a possible release date and a bunch of DLC too.

Middle Earth: Shadow of War is coming on August 22 according to the listing. That’s a Tuesday and a bit too specific to be a random placeholder date. That puts Shadow of War comfortably ahead of the holiday deluge of games.

The Gold Edition highlights the DLC coming in Shadow of War. Let’s take a look.

Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion
Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion
The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion
The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion
Gold War Chest
Over $125 in total value

With all these details, a reveal should be imminent. And I can’t wait. I want to see what Monolith can do with the franchise when they’re not making last gen versions too. Give me a deeper Nemesis system, new mechanics, a little splash of color and an ending that isn’t terrible. Do that, and Shadow of War will be one of my top games of 2017.

Are you pumped to see a new Middle Earth? Sound off in the comments.
