The amount of media pumped out ahead of Mortal Kombat X’s release has been crazy. Hell, you don’t even need to wait for the reviews. Warner Bros. is showing how confident they are with all the Twitch streams and videos every week.

Check out the launch trailer below.

Story and fighting games don’t usually mix, but I’m pumped to play through Mortal Kombat X’s story. The trailer highlights parts of the story, plenty of fighting and a trademark gruesome fatality at the end.

System of a Down’s Shavo Odadjian directed the trailer. And, he adds the band’s signature ‘Chop Suey’ song to it. C’mon, how can you not use the Mortal Kombat theme music?

You’ll notice some new and returning characters in the trailer above. One that old fans will instantly recognize is Nightwolf. Unfortunately, he is not on the roster – but may be a character you fight in the story mode. I imagine MK fans will get more of their old favorites in future DLC.

Speaking of the roster, NetherRealm confirmed the final list of playable characters last week. Fast forward the video below to around 21:40 to see the final roster.

NetherRealms also dive into Kenshi’s moveset right after the roster reveal.

Mortal Kombat X will hit Xbox One, PS4 and PC on April 14. Xbox 360 and PS3 versions have been delayed and are expected to release sometime this summer.
