Video game movies don’t have to suck. Nathan Fillion’s 15 minutes as Nathan Drake proved that today. Watch everything you love about Uncharted distilled into a short, but excellent fan-film.

And shout out to Stephen Lang. He absolutely nails it as Sully. Hell, I like Lang as Sully more than Fillion as Drake. But both do a hell of a job.

Fillion jumped on Instagram this morning with a message to Uncharted fans everywhere.

“This is something I’ve wanted to do, but more importantly, something I’ve wanted to see for a long time. If you’ve ever pinned a towel around your neck for a cape, or donned a fedora and nearly put your eye out with a homemade whip, this is for you. Thank you, @allanungar, for letting us all scratch this itch. Thank you, @naughty_dog_inc, for creating such a wonderful archetype. Thank you fans, for your excellent taste. You know who you are. Enjoy.”

An official take on Nathan Drake on the big screen is stuck in development hell. It was first confirmed to be in development way back in 2010 but is still struggling to get anywhere.

The 15 minutes above might be the only time we’ll ever see Uncharted outside of video games. And unless an eventual film is incredible, might be the best 15-minute Uncharted movie you’ll see.

Actually, we need Netflix or Amazon to scoop this up for a TV show. Sign me the hell up for 10 episodes of Nathan Fillion, Stephen Lang, and company trying to find a long forgotten treasure. Each new season is a new treasure hunt.

Let me know what your favorite part of the fan film was.
