Just over a year ago, Unity posted a slick real-time rendered short film called ADAM. The five-minute video showcases what Unity is capable of, but also showed a world many of us wanted to see much more of.

We see some kind of futuristic prison where the felons are placed(?) into robots. Here’s last year’s trailer.

Tonight, we’ll see the first of two short films from District 9 director Neill Blomkamp continue this story. The first film, ‘ADAM: The Mirror,’ debuts tonight during the Unite Austin 2017 Keynote. It kicks off at 7:00 pm EST. I’ve embedded the livestream below.

The short film will hit Blomkamp’s OATS Studios YouTube page shortly after. I’ll update this post with a link once it goes live. (UPDATE: Check it out below)

Blomkamp had nothing but good things to say about Unity’s short filmmaking capabilities in a statement. “Ever since I started making films I’ve dreamed of a virtual sandbox that would let me build, shoot and edit photorealistic worlds all in one place.”

Blomkamp added, “Today that dream came true thanks to the power of Unity 2017. The fact that we could achieve near photorealistic visuals at half of average time of our production cycles is astounding. The future is here and I can’t wait to see what our fans think.”

Here’s a sneak peek at what Blomkamp and the folks at OATS Studios created.

After watching some of OATS short films, I can’t wait to see what they can do with Unity and ADAM. Check out their short film Rakka from earlier this year.

‘ADAM: The Mirror’ premieres tonight. The second film, ‘ADAM: The Prophet,” will release sometime before the end of 2017.
