No signature hallway fight scene? Sign me up. If there’s one hidden in the show by Netflix/Marvel, it’ll be a damn bloodbath. Punisher fans are all hitting replay this morning on the first full-length trailer for The Punisher:
Hey, we found out where the budget went for The Defenders. Straight to The Punisher. Zero complaints. Frank Castle, who New York thought was dead, is back for more vengeance. He uncovers a conspiracy that runs deeper than NYC’s criminal underworld. CIA, Homeland, FBI.
Watching the trailer, it’s easy to see why he wasn’t in The Defenders. Talk about making short work of The Hand. To borrow a phrase from another movie – somebody get this man a gun. The influence of John Wick on cinema is felt in The Punisher. No quick cuts. Just pure, visceral action. Gun fans will be pleased with the never-ending arsenal Frank Castle possesses.
Seriously Netflix? It’s almost October. Why the trolling of fans? We know it’s coming out this year and there are three months left. Is the streaming service preparing to drop the series unexpectedly on us? Normally, we have a date certain by now.
For cameos, we have Karen Page featured ever so briefly in the trailer. Who else will make an appearance? Daredevil has an interesting relationship with Frank. Could we see Matt Murdock enter the series towards the end? That’s doubtful considering where we last saw Matt.
What do you think of the trailer? Me? It’s a refreshing take on the Netflix / Marvel alliance. No more cookie cutter fight scenes. It returns the series to the hallmarks of Daredevil season 1. Everything is up close and personal.
