Watches are typically divided along price. The more you pay, the more conversations are started. Granted, there is a Bell Curve to expensive watches. Go too far into bling territory and you get the stares of why the hell are you wearing that.
Go too cheap, and you’re wearing a watch you dug out of a cereal box. Hey, we’ve all been there.
Where’s that happy middle? A quality watch you can wear for every occasion? Meet Parr & Co., a Kickstarter campaign for watch lovers that don’t want to drop $5,000+ on a watch.
Nor do they want to wear the Apple Watch. Wait… Those can be over five grand too. And they become obsolete within a couple years. I’m sure that makes sense if you don’t think about it.
Count me in both of those camps.[divider]Parr & Co. Story[/divider]
What’s the story behind the new company? Two guys who wanted to make a quality watch without the insane prices. Most companies cut corners and stuff cheap components and ride their brand marketing to outsized prices.
Months of design tweaks resulted in a watch that is both stylish and versatile. You can pick from a variety of strap colors, including tweed, which was a stretch goal the company recently unlocked.
Parr & Co. Watches
Watch lovers aren’t too different from gadget nerds. Give us the damn specs. The watch being Kickstarted is set in a 40mm x 7mm case in either gold or silver plated 316L stainless steel.
Its face is protected by sapphire crystal. What does that mean? It’s twice as strong as mineral glass and nearly as hard as a diamond. You can’t scratch the face. No, that doesn’t mean you start kicking it across the sidewalk.
The Kickstarter campaign says it best:
These faces are almost impossible to scratch… unless you have a pocket full of diamonds, and if you have a pocket full of diamonds, then you should probably buy yourself a Rolex.
Yeah, if you are walking around with a pocket full of loose diamonds, Homeland Security probably wants to have a word. After the IRS.
To keep the watch versatile, the design duo settled on a clean white background with black Roman numerals and French Losangé watch hands.
Here are the complete specs:

Me? I like the silver. Never been a gold person. The silver version of the Parr & Co. has an understated look to it, yet it pops at the same time.
Parr & Co. Kickstarter
You know the drill. The company is using Kickstarter to launch, which means you are effectively preordering the watch. Good news? Parr & Co. is on top of their game. The funding goal has already been surpassed with 22 days to go.
That puts the end date of the crowdfunding campaign in mid-October. When can you expect the watch in the mail? How does December sound? That turnaround time is great and shows the company has the manufacturing partners lined up.
Pricing starts at $140 as an early bird special. About 120 remain at that price point. From there, a Founder’s Edition and a strap of your choice will run $160.
