Ubisoft has an ambitious sales target for Rainbow Six Siege. The publisher expects the newest entry to outsell Far Cry 4’s 7 million copies sold over the course of its lifetime.

How will Siege sell 7 million copies when Rainbow Six traditionally averages just 3 million? Post-game support according to Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot.

In a conference call, Guillemot said, “This game will continue to live for a long time as we update with content for a long time.”

CFO Alain Martinez added, “because of its replayability and multiplayer, [Siege] might have the potential to do better than Far Cry over its lifetime.”

More than doubling traditional sales? Ubisoft is feeling confident in Siege. Their DLC plans will be vital for extending Siege’s legs. Right now, Ubisoft plans to release Siege by year’s end. They will be putting Siege up against Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Star Wars: Battlefront and Halo 5: Guardians.

On the flip side, Siege is a tactical shooter and will offer people a complete different shooter this holiday.

I hope Ubisoft hits their target. I’m pumped for a new Rainbow Six game. It’s been too long since a tactical shooter has seen success on consoles. The big question is, do console players want tactical shooters anymore? I think they do. I know a lot of my buddies are hyped for Rainbow Six Siege.

Do you think Rainbow Six Siege can hit 7 million copies sold during its lifetime? Are you even interested in a new tactical shooter? Let me know in the comments below.
