They may have drawn First Blood, but Sylvester Stallone will have the final word in Rambo: Last Blood. There are enough callbacks to the other films to appease any fan of what is sure to be one hell of a popcorn movie.

Anyone notice Lionsgate is completely dominating the action movie genre? John Wick Chapter 3 and now Rambo: Last Blood. Sorry Terminator: Dark Fate. That franchise should have been put to bed a long time ago.

Lionsgate released the first teaser trailer for the film, and it’s about what you expect. It’s Rambo on a farm, and he’s ready to fight.

Yep, I’m down watching a geriatric Sylvester Stallone kick ass using a bow with explosive arrows. Nice callback. And it beats watching Liam Neeson trying to scale a fence. If you need a plot synopsis, the studio obliges even though it’s a Rambo film. Explosions. Guns. Knives. ‘Murica.

Almost four decades after he drew first blood, Sylvester Stallone is back as one of the greatest action heroes of all time, John Rambo. Now, Rambo must confront his past and unearth his ruthless combat skills to exact revenge in a final mission. A deadly journey of vengeance, RAMBO: LAST BLOOD marks the last chapter of the legendary series.

Four decades? Thanks for making us feel old Lionsgate.

It does raise the question of who would win in a fight, John Wick or John Rambo. I’m siding with Wick. Dude kills people with a pencil. Sure, Rambo loves a good knife fight, but you can’t beat an assassin who has a penchant for headshots, has a great tailor, and an awesome car.

Rambo: Last Blood hits theaters on September 20, 2019.
