One of the best games of the year is about to get even better. Mutators are coming to Rocket League.
Psyonix’s Jeremy Dunham writes about how Rocket League’s roots are in the modes and mods of Unreal Tournament. And to celebrate “our UT heritage,” players will now be able to “Mutate” their matches with several fun Presets and Custom settings.
Check out the epic trailer below.
Never stop being so damn awesome, Psyonix. Moonball and Beach Ball look like a blast. When the free (hell yeah!) November update goes live, you will be able to tweak tons of rules and settings to create Custom Matches. You can tweak and add everything from ball bounciness and ball max speed to gravity and slo-mo.
Psyonix is also adding a “Mutator Mashup” playlist to bring the craziness of mutators to public games.
The updates keep coming in December when Rocket League turns into Rocket Hockey.
Psyonix will dive into more details about Mutators during a livestream tomorrow at 5 pm EST. The developer will then head over to Reddit for an AMA on November 3 at 4 pm EST.
In a reply to a fan’s question about new Arenas, Dunham said their next Arena will be “different than the ones we’ve released before it.” And to be on the lookout for more info next month. Sounds like we might hear more about another Arena during the AMA on November 3.
I would have never thought a little game called Rocket League would turn out to be the most fun I’ve had gaming in years. Keep up the great work Psyonix. And keep the free (and paid) DLC coming!
