“In order to deliver on our ambitious vision and ensure that Scalebound lives up to expectations, we will be launching the game in 2017. This will give us the time needed to bring to life all the innovative features and thrilling gameplay experiences that we have planned.”
Scalebound never had a release date beyond a vague ‘2016.’ If Platinum Games needs more time, I say give them all the time they need. I just wish developers and publishers wouldn’t reveal games so soon. We first heard about Scalebound nearly two years ago at E3 2014 with this reveal trailer.
At Gamescom 2015, Platinum Games showed off some gameplay for the first time.
Yeah, that frame rate looks rough. I’m sure that’s one of the areas Platinum Games will be addressing with the extra dev time.
By the time we play Scalebound, it’ll be around three years since it was first announced.
Want good sales? Don’t release your game in November when all the usual heavy hitters come out. I’m looking at you Rise of the Tomb Raider. A fantastic game overshadowed by the return of Fallout 4. Oh, and Star Wars: Battlefront and Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Who thought that was a good idea?
Today’s delay gives Platinum Games the extra dev time they need, and it probably gives them a better release date.
Losing Scalebound is a blow, but Microsoft is still looking good in 2016. Crackdown 3, Fable Legends, Below, Gears of War 4, Halo Wars 2 and more are still expected to release this year. Which Xbox One exclusive are you most pumped to play?
