Throw down those swatches people. That includes you, Mom. Sherwin-Williams has decided for us what the 2018 color of the year is and it’s teal. Wait… My bad… It’s Oceanside.
Here’s how Sherwin-Williams describes Oceanside (SW 6496) or teal. “People today have a growing sense of adventure, and it is making its way into even the coziest corners of our homes,” says Sue Wadden, director of color marketing at Sherwin-Williams. “We are craving things that remind us of bright folklore, like mermaids and expeditions across continents. Oceanside is the color of wanderlust right in our own homes.”
Ok, I’m all for a nice paint scheme, but at the end of the day, laying painter’s tape, moving furniture, and then painting all the walls gets old in a hurry. Ask anyone who has painted a few rooms in a day if they feel a sense of wanderlust. Nah, it’s more ‘we are hiring professionals next time.’
Wadden kept going in touting Oceanside as the color of 2018. “Green-blues in deep values, such as Oceanside, respond to changes in light, which is a quality that creates intense dimension. It is a tremendously versatile color, and harmonizes with other diverse color groups.”
Is it bad I like the charcoal hue in the first picture? Oceanside is an interesting color and one you need to love cause when the inevitable change comes, that’s more than one coat of primer to get rid of that hue. Head over to Sherwin-Williams to see more, and possible color mixes to add to your wanderlust.
