Now this is what you call a Black Friday doorbuster. The Star Wars: The Force Awakens has released its first teaser and I have just two words: Hell yes.
We get treated to an ominous overlay of what many guess is the Sith – “There has been an awakening – have you felt it?” From there we see John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, both rumored leads and newcomers to the franchise.
You know what we didn’t see? Campy scenes. Thank you Disney, thank you. To me, the teaser implies we are getting a darker Star Wars.
In what is the most controversial piece of the trailer, we see a Sith with a new type of lightsaber. The best way to describe it is a claymore sword in lightsaber form. Personally, I love it. Could it be we are seeing the Sith Inquisitors? The Star Wars fan in me would love to see the Sith tribe over the Two-Sith.
My biggest want was delivered in the trailer. X-Wings. They get a nice piece of the 88 seconds, with a flight terrain flying, skimming over a lake. Stormtroopers with upgraded rifles line a drop ship over a dark planet.
Watching the trailer, it looks like we will have three distinct worlds. Tatooine is featured heavily, along with the temperate planet featuring the X-Wings. The Sith is running through a wooded area filled with snow.
The 88-second Star Wars trailer ends with a bang. The Millenium Falcon executing some trademark Han Solo flying, avoiding at least two TIE fighters. Am I hyped? Damn right. Hurry up next December 18. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
