Does Fast and Furious 8 even need marketing at this point? It has The Rock. The franchise is only getting stronger in terms of box office receipts; cars, and enough explosions to make Michael Bay jealous.
And that’s what makes his Instagram post from yesterday intriguing. Known for keeping it real, The Rock goes out of his way to call out a few unnamed male costars in the film.
“Some conduct themselves as stand-up men and true professionals, while others don’t,” Johnson writes in his caption. “The ones that don’t are too chicken s**t to do anything about it anyway. Candy asses.”
Well, now. Tell us how you really feel. He should have posted the scene of him breaking the arm cast and saying ‘Daddy’s gotta go to work.’ Now that would have perfection.
The good news is he promises his feelings translate to the big screen and makes the producer inside him damn happy.
“When you watch this movie next April and it seems like I’m not acting in some of these scenes and my blood is legit boiling — you’re right. Bottom line is it’ll play great for the movie and fits this Hobbs character that’s embedded in my DNA extremely well. The producer in me is happy about this part.”
Another bottom line? The Rock just teased a scene from the movie. The guy is a damn beast tossing a prison guard. What’s our favorite DHS agent doing in jail? My guess is he’s undercover. Not sure how The Rock does anything inconspicuously, but it’s Hollywood. Check reality at the door.
It all screams of marketing. Are there issues on the set? Maybe, but we won’t know the details. Well played.
