April 1945. The Allies are marching into Germany. Desperation on both German lines as they try to push the Allied powers out of Germany. Who do you call on in a situation for the final push? Brad Pitt and his one Sherman tank. I never proclaimed it made sense, but the movie looks cool.
It’s been awhile since we’ve had a good World War 2 movie, and hopefully this fills the void. It’s one of the most interesting set pieces for action movies, and deserves more attention.
This movie could lean into laughability category with the premise. Brad Pitt plays a battle-tested Sergeant named Wardaddy. I wish I was making that up. The movie follows the crew of five as they take their lone Sherman tank behind enemy lines on a top secret mission. Yeah, if you know anything about armor in World War 2, the Germans had better quality, we just had sheer quantity.
The synopsis of the movie continues with the crew being outnumbered and outgunned, and with a rookie soldier thrust into their squad. I think I see why this has November release date. It needs a clear slate to make a move for number one at the box office for its weekend.
In addition to Brad Pitt, the cast includes Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Scott Eastwood, Jon Bernthal and Michael Pena.
Mark your calendars for the November 14 release date. As Wardaddy says, more people have to die for this war to end. Check out the trailer below.
