The shooter genre is always oversaturated. And the past 12 months have seen some of the best shooters in recent memory. DOOM was one of the best surprises in recent memory. Overwatch and its cast of characters continue their hold on millions of gamers. Battlefield 1 made a bet on the past. Rainbow Six Siege and its tactical brilliance is still going strong. And Call of Duty went with jet packs one too many times.

Titanfall 2 was nestled in between Battlefield 1 and Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. EA was dead set on knocking Call of Duty off its pedestal. And they succeeded. EA believed gamers were ready for a trip back in time. They were right. Too bad Titanfall 2 was the real casualty.

It’s a damn shame too. The slick gameplay from the first Titanfall is back and with one of the best shooter single-player experiences in recent memory. Today, EA dropped Titanfall 2 into the EA/Origin Access Vaults. Folks with an Xbox One or PC can see what all the fuss is about now.

Despite not becoming a breakout hit, the community on Titanfall 2 is still relatively strong. It sits right behind Battlefield 4 on the most played games on Xbox One, and that has 16,289 players on it right now. Titanfall 2 should have somewhere between 10,000-16,000 players on it. And that will only grow now that it’s part of EA Access. I know I’ll be telling my friends to give it a shot. If we can ever stop playing PUBG.

The folks at Respawn have kept the support coming too. New game modes like the titan-free Live Fire and the just released co-op Frontier Defense will give us plenty to play.

Nearly 50 games sit in the EA Access Vault right now. Not too shabby for $4.99/month ($29.99/year). Toss in the early access playtime you get with all new EA games, and it’s one of the best services out there.

Titanfall 2 isn’t the only heavy hitter coming to EA/Origin Access from last year. Battlefield 1 is coming soon. No specific date for that one, but EA did say in an earlier announcement that it will be coming between July and September.

On top of that, a slew of ‘play first’ trials are coming. Madden NFL 18, NHL 18, NBA LIVE 18, FIFA 18 and Star Wars Battlefront 2 trials will hit over the next few months.

But today is all about Titanfall 2. If you have EA/Origin Access, give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed.
