Good news, bad news Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch. Good news first. The pair has been cast in the second season of True Detective on HBO. Fantastic roles that comes with a nice helping of bad news. It will be compared to the incredible performances of Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
The casting for season 2 of True Detective rounds out what we already know. Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn have already been cast. Farrell as a ‘compromised’ detective and Vaughn as the criminal element. Plot details that have leaked say the story will involve 3 police officers and a career criminal.Rachel McAdams will play a county sheriff named Ani Bezzerides, whose “uncompromising ethics put her at odds with others and the system she serves.”
Taylor Kitsch will round out the police leads, playing a war veteran and motorcycle officer with the California Highway Patrol, running from his past and a scandal that never happened.
Kelly Reilly has been tapped to play the wife of Vince Vaughn’s character. You’ll recognize her from Sherlock Holmes.
So, when do we get our True Detective fix? Prepare to wait for a bit. Production is underway, but casting is just now firming up. If you loved the cinematography in season 1, the location is changing. California will be front and center in the new season.
We all knew True Detective would be a serialized show. Each season will follow a different crime and involve a new slate of characters. Still, can they replicate the magic of season 1 of True Detective? Don’t put it past HBO to raise the bar again.
Let’s get a release date HBO, and allow us to binge watch it like Netflix. That’s what I want for Christmas.
