Uber continues its rapid expansion as it adds UberFamily to two more cities. The program first launched in New York City back in May and gives parents the option of an Uber ride equipped with a child’s car seat.
Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia can now take advantage of the UberFamily option. As part of bringing the service to the two new cities, Uber is teaming up with Care.com which will cover the $10 car seat surcharge between now and Sunday.
Uber users will also receive special perks from Care.com during the promotion including 20% off childcare and housekeeping services on Care.com. If you’re one of the first 500 families to try the new Uber service, you’ll get a free care package.
“Families in major metropolitan areas like D.C. and Philadelphia know how difficult it can be to navigate transportation needs with small children,” Donna Levin, co-founder and VP of operations at Care.com, said in a press statement. “We were thrilled to sponsor the launch of UberFamily in New York and are delighted to help bring the service to families in D.C. and Philadelphia, easing their needs through a reliable service and continuing to raise awareness of child transportation safety for families nationwide.”
“With the support of Care.com, Uber is proud to be raising industry standards for safer, family-friendly options while giving parents and caregivers the same reliability and convenience they expect from the Uber platform,” said Rachel Holt, Regional General Manager for Uber East Coast, in the same statement.
In other Uber news, the company recently expanded into its sixth Middle Eastern city as it drives into Beirut.
