Am I biased towards Star Wars: The Force Awakens? Yep. I can’t wait till it releases. Star Wars Korea is giving us a new 30-second TV spot where we get two seconds of new footage.
One word. Whoa…
There’s so much to digest.
First thing? White TIE Fighters. Hell yes. Now I know I’m going to have to get a mortgage to appease my nephew. Thanks, Disney. I love you, and my bank account hates you.
A lot of grief is erupting in the forums over the back of the helmets of the soldiers on the stage. Don’t get too hung up on it. The snow troopers that stormed Hoth had similar helmets.
Yeah, the freeze frame of the scene does make it look rather lego-ish, but that’s the nature of the beast when the two-second cut was meant to evoke the scale of the First Order’s army.
We have the Nazi symbolism on full display. The ranks of soldiers, the flags, the stage and heavy weapons wrapping it all together. Yep, time for Luke and company to kick space Hitler’s ass.
Looking closer, we get a blurry glimpse of some new hardware. A possible AT-AT variant and another transport craft.
The rest of the trailer is footage we have seen from previous teasers. Yeah, I’m losing my mind over two seconds.
In the recent Esquire issue, Adam Driver (Kylo Ren) talked about being on set.
‘The experience was not unlike an indie movie, just with bigger budgets,’
Driver added: “With JJ, it’s all about character and story, not special effects.
“And we still talk about character now. Whenever I’ve worked with great directors, it’s always that way. You’re constantly finding it. Things evolve and change even as you’re filming.”
Four months until release…
Damn it, I always swore I wouldn’t be one of the crazies lining up to see a movie. I blame you, JJ Abrams. You loveable bastard.
