UPDATE: The text concerning resolution and frames per second has been removed from the Playstation page. Who knows what the resolution is. I guess we’ll find out in a few weeks.
Looks like the Playstation 4 can add another multi-platform notch to its belt. According to the Playstation’s official Watch_Dogs page, “the true Watch_Dogs experience” is only available on Playstation 4.
The page reads, “The World of Watch_Dogs comes alive on PS4 with the best graphics on any console and exclusive missions found only on Playstation. Hack everything as you make your way through Chicago’s underground as you experience Watch_Dogs in a way that only PS4 can provide, at 60 Frames Per Second in 1080p.”
The Playstation version of Watch_Dogs includes four exclusive missions. A Ubisoft blog post details the four missions and say they will “deliver 60 minutes of gameplay.”
Ubisoft has not confirmed if the information on Sony’s website is accurate. It wouldn’t be surprising though. Several multiplatform titles have seen higher resolutions on the Playstation 4 versus the Xbox One.
In an interview with Gaming Bolt last month, the resolution for the Xbox One and PS4 versions wasn’t locked.
Developers and publishers have been reluctant to offer resolution figures if they differ between both consoles. After all, they want the most sales possible. They don’t want to sabotage sales if they said one version was clearly superior to the other.
Now, the Xbox One could run the game at the same resolution and frame-rate, but Sony’s page points to a Sony advantage. We won’t know if the two versions run the same unless Ubisoft confirms resolution details. Or, until the game is out in the wild.
