One of my favorite games from 2014 is getting a standalone prequel. Bethesda has announced Wolfenstein: The Old Blood, a prequel to last year’s Wolfenstein: The New Order. MachineGames, the developer behind The New Order, is also handling development for the The Old Blood.
The Old Blood is a two-part story set in Germany 1946. The first part is called Rudi Jager and the Den of Wolves. Blazkowicz’s mission is to break into Castle Wolfenstein and steal coordinates to General Deadhead’s compound. How will he do it? “I’ve got a plan. Break into the keep. Kill every Nazi in there,” Blazkowicz says in the trailer below. I love it.
Part two of The Old Blood is titled The Dark Secrets of Helga Von Schabbs. You’ll head to the city of Wulfburg “where and obsessed Nazi archaeologist is exhuming mysterious artifacts that threaten to unleash a dark and ancient power.
Bethesda teases, “all new secrets, all new weapons and all new villains.” That sawed off shotgun at the end of the trailer looks awesome.
You can expect to see more gameplay of The Old Blood at Pax East this weekend in Boston. As for when you will be playing the whole thing? Wolfenstein: The Old Blood will release on May 5 for $20 on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
Oh, and if you haven’t played Wolfenstein: The New Order – get on it. You are missing out on one of the best shooters over the past few years.
