It was described as an extraction shooter developed by PUBG Studios with a tentative release date of the second half of 2024. No word on a release date, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.krafton.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/02\/KRAFTON-4Q23-Earnings-Release_vF_ENG-5.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">last week\u2019s earnings release<\/a> did offer a few more details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Krafton describes Black Budget as \u201cpopularizing the Extraction Shooter genre.\u201d It\u2019ll also be \u201cinheriting and enhancing PUBG\u2019s powerful gunplay.\u201d So, while the genre will be different, the gunplay millions of fans are used to with PUBG will be carrying over.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are a few more bullet points straight from last week\u2019s earnings:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><em>Essential genre-specific experience of gambling.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>A world demanding strategic choices during every session.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Player progression varied by Risk-Reward decisions.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Inheriting and enhancing PUBG\u2019s powerful gunplay.<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><em>Deep and challenging gameplay experience.<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Like PUBG did initially, Krafton is planning an early access period for Black Budget (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlayerIGN\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">via PlayerIGN<\/a>).\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter wp-block-embed-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">this is actually the 1st earnings call that CH Kim (KRAFTON CEO) is in, so it&#39;s a big deal.<br><br>basically these 5 games are building up to a surprise &quot;Big IP&quot; drop.<br><br>there&#39;s going to be a Closed Beta and Early Access for Black Budget (PUBG extraction) and Inzoi (kdrama sims game). <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LcaKQnbwFk\">pic.twitter.com\/LcaKQnbwFk<\/a><\/p>&mdash; PlayerIGN (@PlayerIGN) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/PlayerIGN\/status\/1755571950758646263?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 8, 2024<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, there has yet to be a firm release date, but the original reveal suggested a second half of 2024 release date. It wouldn\u2019t shock me if we see an official Black Budget reveal this summer. There will likely be plenty of events to drop a reveal trailer such as Summer Games Fest or the PC Gaming Show. Or Krafton could do their own reveal event. We\u2019ll see what they end up doing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I\u2019m curious to see what PUBG comes up with. While a handful of games like Escape from Tarkov and Hunt: Showdown dominate the genre, Black Budget could muscle its way in. I would lean towards a more casual take on the genre. I was big into Tarkov a couple of years ago, but it\u2019s about as far from casual as it gets. Unforgiving gameplay mixed with limited loot can be a turn-off. But if you stick with it, it\u2019s some of the most fun and intense gameplay out there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Krafton\u2019s most recent earnings also briefly touched on Subnautica 2. That game is expected to launch in early access sometime next year.
