One of the biggest criticisms of the Xbox platform has been its lack of broad indie support. Sony, meanwhile, capitalized and gave indie developers center stage at its conferences last year.
Well, turns out Microsoft has been hard at work on getting tons of indie support for the Xbox One.
Today, Director Chris Charla at ID@Xbox announced a list of 65 indie developers working closely with Xbox and the ID@Xbox program.
Charla also said the list is not complete and more than 200 developers currently have dev kits.
“Honestly when I look at this list, all I can say is “wow.” It’s incredibly humbling to see so many fantastic studios there supporting Xbox One, from XBLIG and XBLA alumni like Ska Studios and Humble Hearts, to new studios like Glass Bottom Games and Heart Machine, and veterans including Robomodo, Zoë Mode and Playdead. We could not be more excited!” said Charla.
According to Charla, the first round of indie games are in certification right now. We should see the first set of indie titles hitting Xbox One very soon.
