MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries Stomps Next September

17 years will have gone by before we see a new single player, first-person action game in the BattleTech universe. The folks at Piranha Games revealed a new trailer for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries at MechCon 2018 over the weekend. And with it a release date – September 10, 2019.

The graphics aren’t blowing me away, but it’s MechWarrior. Firing Lasers, cannons, and rockets at other mechs and watching them go boom is more than enough. Polygon points out MechWarrior 5 will also launch with four-player co-op multiplayer and full mod support.

I know Battle Royale is quickly becoming oversaturated, but I would be down for Piranha Games to give it a go here. Drop 50 mechs onto the battlefield and see which hulking mass of metal and destruction comes out on top.

But don’t worry single-player fans, MechWarrior 5 is shaping up to have one hell of a solo experience. Hundreds of planets with different enemy strongholds in each playthrough will be your playground according to Piranha Games.

I’ll leave you with another small taste of MechWarrior 5 gameplay from earlier this year.
