Red Dead Online Rides Into a November Sunset

The much-anticipated multiplayer portion of Red Dead Redemption 2 is coming this week. Rockstar said November, and it will just barely make it. That’s the good news. The bad news, Red Dead Online will have a short, staggered rollout. Here’s a breakdown on when you and your buddies can make your own gang.

November 27 (Tuesday) – You dropped $100 on the Ultimate Edition.

November 28 (Wednesday) – You played on launch day (October 26).

November 29 (Thursday) – You played on launch weekend (October 26 – 29).

November 30 (Friday) – You own the game.

We don’t know much about Red Dead Online, but Rockstar better bring back ‘Standoffs’ from the first game.

The Verge got a hold of a few more details about what we’ll do during the start of Red Dead Online’s beta:

“Explore this huge world solo or with friends. Form or join a posse to ride with up to seven players; gather around the fire at your camp; head out hunting or fishing; visit bustling towns; battle enemy gangs and attack their hideouts; hunt for treasure; take on missions and interact with familiar characters from across the five states; or fight against other outlaws in both spontaneous skirmishes and pitched set-piece battles; compete with other players or whole posses in open world challenges and much more.”

Sounds about like what I did in the story, but instead with friends. I’m down.

Rockstar is going out of there way to call this a beta, so don’t expect a fully-fledged western version of GTA Online right out of the gate. Expect bugs. Expect big changes. And most of all, expect server meltdowns.

It’ll be intriguing to see what Red Dead Online evolves into. The western setting does hold it back from the craziness they implemented in GTA Online. Or does it?
