You didn’t think publishers would slow down just because Christmas is over, did you? January is shaping up to be one of hell of a month for fans of franchises we played as kids.
Onimusha: Warlords kicks things off on January 15. The PS2 classic is getting the usual re-release treatment. A bump in graphics, widescreen support, and a new control scheme are the highlights.
An Onimusha re-release is cool and all, but it’s the next entry into the Ace Combat series I’m pumped for. Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown is coming January 18 on Xbox One and PS4 (February 1 on Steam). I’m ready for the cheesy story, awesome music, and fantastic gameplay. It’s been too long since we’ve seen a proper Ace Combat game. Hell, any flying game for that matter – at least on consoles.

Ace Combat 7 also comes with a handful of multiplayer modes. Bandai Namco talks up a Battle Royale mode, but it looks more like a traditional free-for-all mode. It doesn’t look like there’s any Battle Royale mechanics going on in the multiplayer trailer I linked below.
