We Have To Wait A Little Longer For New Age of Empires 4 Info

Age of Empires has been getting plenty of love lately. Age of Empires: Definitive Edition just hit Game Pass for those that missed its launch, and Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition is coming on November 14. The big difference between the Definitive Edition and the HD Edition that was released a few years back is the graphics. The HD Edition was a resolution bump only. The Definitive Edition is remastering the graphics.

Here’s a good look at the difference.

That November 14 date is also when Xbox’s XO19 event begins in London. And according to Xbox General Manager Aaron Greenberg (via Germany’s GameStar), it’s when we’ll get our first look at a brand new Age of Empires. Here’s a clip of Greenberg talking Age of Empires 4. Gameplay is probably a given, but Greenberg didn’t say much only that Age of Empire fans should tune in to XO19.

The Age of Empires Twitter confirmed they will be at XO19 soon after Greenberg’s comments.

It’s been two years since Age of Empires 4 was announced at Gamescom 2017, and we haven’t heard much since. All we have to go on is the announcement trailer.

Strategy games have seen a resurgence lately. Games like Total War: Three Kingdoms, They Are Billions, Factorio, and more all show there is an appetite for the genre.

Now we wait to see where Age of Empires 4 heads. Is it more of the same, or does Microsoft try and shake things up? I’m hoping for the latter. Two definitive editions give us all the classic Age of Empires we could want. Total War has done a great job over the past few years, giving fans the core gameplay they love while building on it. We’ll start to see if Microsoft can do the same when we learn more at XO19.
