A New Look at COD Zombies Time Travelling Shenanigans Ahead of Comic-Con Panel

Later this week, Treyarch will celebrate ten years of COD Zombies at Comic-Con. Today, Zombies fans get another look at how the studio is shaking up the undead formula. Here’s the story trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Zombies.

Ok, that looks great. I love the greater focus on melee here. After playing Vermintide 2 some, there’s nothing quite like smashing into monsters with a huge sword/ ax. Treyarch also promises plenty of easter eggs for all the Zombies fans to solve.

I just have one request. Can we get a classic mode? I’m glad tons of folks love solving easter eggs or going through the steps to get cool weapons, but how about a mode for those of us who just want to kill zombies (with the special weapons) and see how long we can last?

UPDATE: Activision sent along a fact sheet today including this little bit of info about Zombies.

Black Ops 4 Zombies will include Custom Games and new Game Modes, which will deliver a more personalized Zombies experience – allowing players to tailor the challenge and difficulty to their play style, and experience the game in a new way.

Maybe a classic mode will be possible via those settings.

I’m digging the time travel here too. It opens up what Treyarch can do with future DLC besides the usual castles, prisons, and ruins.

Black Ops 4 will launch with “three full experiences at launch:” IX, Voyage of Despair, and Blood of the Dead. The trailer suggests these “experiences” (at least IX and Voyage of Despair) are connected within a single match. The staff appears to open a portal between Voyage of Despair and IX. It could be the way the trailer is put together, but it does seem the two maps are tied together.

Maybe we’ll learn more about how an individual match plays out during Thursday’s (July 19) Comic-on Panel for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Treyarch’s Jason Blundell and Craig Houston will be on hand to talk all things Zombies. Expect new footage, announcements, and a Q&A during the hour-long panel starting at 1:00 pm PST on Thursday.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is coming about a month earlier than usual this year on October 12, 2018.
